About the Tour
First stop of the tour will be Finca La Labor in Guatemala City. It not only is one of the last coffee farms in Guatemala city, it’s also the perfect spot to get an insight in the work of a dry mill and hold our first cupping of the fresh harvest 2019! From the city we are heading to Jalapa, Mataquescuintla.
The very fruitful soil of this region is the perfect source for exceptional coffees. In Jalapa, we will visit Finca Vizcaya from Francisco Montenegro. Beside an impressive Jurassic Park-feeling, Finca Vizcaya will provide you with a cupping of the fresh crop of 2019! Afterwards we are heading to Sierra de las Minas in the West/East of Guatemala. Most parts of this region belong to a nature reserve and you will find incredible untouched parts of jungle there. No wonder, our next farm, Finca La Bella, is called “The Beauty”. La Bella from Teodoro Engelhardt the 4th is a great example of sustainable reforestation and cutting edge post-harvest methods. As grand finale, we would like to stop on our way back to the La Antigua in the region of San Martin Jilotepeque to visit small farmers of the cooperative AsproGUATE. This outstanding project supports small producers to cultivate organic certified coffees, we might be able to cup right at the farms. To happily end our tour, we will have a delicious Goodbye-Dinner in La Antigua and celebrate in the dazzling nightlife of this old colonial city.
